Snoopy Sno-cone Machine!!!

Tomorrow I have a birthday party to attend. I'm going to bust out my sparkly party dress and ponder what kinds of awesomeness will be in the goodie bags. I could totally use some pixie stix sugar. The party is for my friends Sophia and Anika who are about to turn 3 as well as their cousins Leo and Finn who turned 3 yesterday. The four of them are ADORABLE. They also have another cousin, Ali, who had his 3rd 2 weeks ago. I can't even begin to imagine how awesome their social life is going to be as they continue to grow up in a family with so many kids the exact same age.

I got the girls a Snoopy Sno-cone Machine. It just got here today from Amazon and it's soooo hard not to keep it for myself so I can relive my childhood. I adored mine when I was a kid. With all of the bazillions of high tech entertainments for kids these days, I wanted to get them something that was super cool back in the 80s. You know, before infants had their own ipad learning systems and such.

My fiance also had the same sno-cone machine growing up. She was so excited by its presence in our household she took a picture and tweeted it. Our inner children have taken over this evening. We're half a heartbeat away from pillow fights and jumping on the sofa. (Actually that happens a lot in our house as childlike joy is such a beautiful spiritual state.)

I also met some new friends today. Erik and Annika (not to be confused with Anika the soon to be 3 year old) are 5 year old twins and they have a younger brother Jonathan. Their mother speaks Swedish to them 90% of the time, so I' m going to pick up a few new words to show off. Today, Jonathan got a thank you card from his teacher for his end of the year present. He was bummed that it wasn't a birthday party invitation. Annika was bummed that she didn't get a card.

"Well, maybe I'll make you a card," her mom offered.

"No. I want a card from someone who doesn't live in this house."

Ahhh, children. I Love the things they say. I love how free they are. Of course, I'm not the world's biggest fan of temper tantrums, hitting/fighting and outright rebellion but generally the good cute moments outweigh those other ones. I love how freely they give and receive love. I'm pretty sure I could make an excellent case for why no one should ever grow up, EVER.

But just at this moment I don't feel like a long diatribe. I feel like playing, loving and giving. Why sit here talking about love when I can be out living it. (Don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow... I have to blog Every day!) Feel free to share ways in which children have provided you with excellent life lessons. I'm gonna go write a card for Annika. :)

  1. Hi Kieta,

I love your post because I can feel your sense of fun and joy. Thank you for bringing back memories of making sno cones. I did that too, only it was back in the 60's. Have a wonderful time at that birthday party!

  2. I didn't even know they still sold those sno-cone machines! We had one of those growing up too. Loved your post. And I love that Annika wants a card from someone who doesn't live in her house. Too cute.
